Kurzbiografie
Naoko Sonoda studierte in Tokio und an der Universität der Künste Berlin bei Rainer Becker. Weitere musikalische Impulse erhielt sie von Tabea Zimmermann, Natalia Gutmann und Markus Nyikos. Nach dem Studium wurde sie von der Universität der Künste Berlin als künstlerische Mitarbeiterin engagiert – eine Tätigkeit, die sie bis heute fortsetzt. Sie war als „Collaborative Pianist“ bei internationalen Festivals zu Gast und konzertierte in Sälen wie dem Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, der Berliner Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall in London oder der Carnegie Hall in New York. Zusätzlich hatte sie bereits mehrere Live-Auftritte in verschiedenen öffentlichen Rundfunkanstalten wie der BBC, ZDF, BR, HR, und RBB. Als renommierte Kammermusikerin machte sie sich einen Namen mit dem Preis als „beste Klavierpartnerin sowohlbei der Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition (2015, 2018) als auch beimInternationalen Tschaikowsky-Wettbewerb (2015, 2019). 2021 erhielt sie den Poanistenpreis für die beste Interpretation der Sonate von Enescu beim internationalen Enescu Wettbewerb in Rumänien.
Short biography
Naoko Sonoda studied in Tokyo and at the Berlin University of the Arts with Rainer Becker. She received further musical inspiration from Tabea Zimmermann, Natalia Gutmann and Markus Nyikos. After graduating, she was hired by the Berlin University of the Arts as an artistic collaborator - an activity she continues to this day. She has performed as a ‘collaborative pianist’ at international festivals and has given concerts in venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, the Berlin Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also performed live on various public radio stations such as the BBC, ZDF, BR, HR and RBB. As a renowned chamber musician, she made a name for herself with the prize for ‘Best Piano Partner’ at both the Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition (2015, 2018) and the International Tchaikovsky Competition (2015, 2019). In 2021, she received the Poanist Prize for the best interpretation of Enescu's sonata at the International Enescu Competition in Romania.
